IMPROMPTUS & FANTASIES

IN FALL OF 2009, Oni Buchanan will be inspiring spontaneous flights of imaginative fancy with her IMPROMPTUS & FANTASIES program, exploring two musical forms with their roots in the art of improvisation. The works, though bound by their extemporaneous and ingenious form-bending styles, run the gamut of emotional expression, from whimsical and capricious to profoundly grave, urgently imploring, boisterous, peacefully contented, and transcendently sublime. They trace the delights and obsessions of each composer, creating the illusion of unpremeditated inspiration captured in the moment.
